Sewell Plastic Surgery

BACKGROUND: Dr. Nathan Sewell is a plastic surgeon with a degree in art history. When he hired PUNCH to create an identity for Sewell Plastic Surgery, his eye for modern design and typography played a major role.

CHALLENGE: Dr. Sewell wanted his logo to represent precision, artistry, quality, and aesthetic. It had to convey that he is a plastic surgeon with superb artistic skills, a caring bedside manner, and excellent judgement.

But after several rounds, Dr. Sewell had not seen a logo that he thought defined him. Our designer reviewed her notes from various conversations, looked through the feedback on the previous designs, and, with a real sense of what he was looking for, designed a final logo.

EXECUTION: We used dots above the name as a simple representation for “S” (Sewell). A sophisticated color palate of orange and gray—bold, yet serious—brought out the beauty of the logo mark. And since symmetry is such an important factor in plastic surgery, this was also represented in the logo.

IMPACT: The client loved the final logo. It was clean, simple, and precise. It spoke to the aesthetics Dr. Sewell prefers in design and implied the high level of service he provides his clients.

We went on to create an identity system for Sewell Plastic Surgery. This included business cards, an appointment card, letterhead, envelopes, and an informational brochure. The logo clearly established the client’s style and preferences, so the other pieces came about easily.
