PUNCH’s managing partner, Kelly Adams, is taking part in the 2008/09 Leadership Metro Richmond program. The program kicked off in September with a weekend retreat in Natural Bridge, Virginia. The class of 68 business professionals will continue to meet monthly for a full day of collaborative work, which will culminate in the spring of 2009 with several finished projects to benefit capital regional development. The LMR program will focus on five key areas: education, safety, transportation, work-force housing, and work-force education.

LMR members are leaders in Richmond who represent private businesses, medicine, policy makers, non-profit executives, and professionals of every stripe. They are social engineers who lend their expertise to build bridges in the Richmond community.

Kelly Adams says, “I didn’t know what to expect, but I hate to waste time. So, I made sure I brought plenty to do. The LMR folks were prepared for a group that doesn’t have time to spare, though. Since that first weekend, I feel more confident in my own area of expertise. I can see how I can offer a valuable perspective and skill set to challenges within Richmond. I look forward to our next meeting in October and becoming better acquainted with my classmates. The class of ’09 represents an amazing array of professionals. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this.”

Over the past 29 years, more than 1,300 influential Richmonders have taken part in LMR, including Governor Tim Kaine, former Richmond Mayor Rudy McCollum, 12 News’ Sabrina Squire, First Market Bank’s James E. Ukrop, S&K Famous Brands’ Stuart C. Siegel, William Byrd Community House’s Reginald E. Gordon, and United Way’s Sherrie Brach.
